uplifting thoughts and inspiration on faith

Grow Your Hope

Grow Your Hope

FAITH:  complete confidence or trust in a person or thing; belief that is not based on proof; strong or unshakeable belief in something, esp without proof or evidence;

Hebrews 10:23  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Growing your hope requires the proper environment.  Just like plants and trees require certain soils and nourishment to thrive, so too hope requires proper nurture.

Job 8:11     Can the rush or papyrus grow up without marsh? Can the flag or reed grass grow without water?

Job 17:9     Yet shall the righteous (those upright and in right standing with God) hold to their ways, and he who has clean hands shall grow stronger and stronger.

Malachi 4:2     But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

1 Corinthians 16:13     Be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith (your conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men and be courageous; grow in strength!

1 Peter 2:2     Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation

2 Peter 3:18     But grow in grace (undeserved favor, spiritual strength) and recognition and knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him [be] glory (honor, majesty, and splendor) both now and to the day of eternity. Amen (so be it)!

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

      I have always thought of hope as optimism, thinking happy thoughts and maybe it will happen. Studying hope and the deeper Biblical meaning has been eye opening. Thinking of hope as an equal to faith is a new concept for me. We walk by faith, not by sight. Jesus is the author and perfector of our faith. Each has been given a measure of faith. These scriptures I have known but to think of hope the same way . . . we walk by hope, Jesus is the author and perfector of our hope, each has been given a measure of hope . . . that’s something worth meditating on for a long time. If our faith is based on a guarantee then our hope must be based on that same guarantee. Faith and hope can be explained as concepts as opposed to something you can hold in your hand, touch, and feel. But the guarantee is real. You hold it in your hand every time you hold God’s word. It’s right there, in writing, tangible, just like the deed to your house or the title to your car. Faith and hope are based on reality and that my sister is the real encouragement!
