I like the word choice: Everlasting! I am reading the psalms currently and noting the phrase, “steadfast love.” Taking note of a word or phrase really helps draw attention to verses. Thanks for this post.

Wow! When I received your note I went back to look and even as I was writing it still didn’t hit me – everlasting does seem to be everywhere! I am so glad you enjoyed the post. The truth is, I enjoy them too. Not because I think so highly of myself, quite the contrary – I am daily reminded that my words are not mine at all. The Bible tells us that God gives talents to His children so they can in return give them back in service. The Holy Spirit living in us and working through us does great things when we allow Him full control. I so often go back and read things that “I have written” and I know full well I did not write it at all. Share A Verse was never something I set out to do. God brought this about and God uses it to reach whomever He has in mind – including me. I am always so thrilled when someone is blessed through this website. It is a reminder to me of God’s love, God’s attention to detail in our lives, God’s constant hand leading and guiding and blessing. It is a joy to serve God with an open willing heart. It is a blessing to see how He takes our small things and turns them into everlasting investments. 😉

Hey yeah! I noticed the word “Everlasting” too even though this post was titled “Eternal God” …. Melinda, so true about taking note of a word or phrase because it helps tie together different verses that you would otherwise never relate to each other. Shareaverse, great post:) It has inspired me to dig around even more in the Bible and to take note of the names of God that tell us more of who He is.

Megan, that’s awesome! Thank you for your comment. When I study and prepare to share I do several things that maybe you are already doing but if not perhaps it will aid you in your study – I use Bible Gateway ( and do a key word search. I use in conjunction with ( to look up contemporary meanings of words and Blue Letter Bible Search ( to look up the original Hebrew and Greek words. Therefore, if I look up eternal in the dictionary and thesaurus I am able to compile a list of key words to search different translations of the Bible for scriptures that match my topic. I take those scriptures that seem appropriate and put them into Blue Letter Bible Search to get the original Hebrew and Greek definitions of the words we have translated into modern day meaning. It’s very interesting to see how the different translations of the Bible interpret the original words. Sometimes they seem spot on and sometimes I am left scratching my head wondering how far a stretch it was to get to where they ended up!

My desire, my goal, my passion, is seeking TRUTH. The Holy Spirit is truth and leads us into all truth. I continuously ask God for wisdom, discernment, and help perceiving the meaning of His word. The Bible is living and as we search and study and pray for insight God will open the scriptures to us more and more each day as we grow. I have read the Bible from cover to cover multiple times in multiple translations over multiple years and I still daily find things that I never saw before. It’s humbling. It’s exciting. It’s inspiring.

I also try very hard to set the stage in my mind using internet searches and research to picture how the people lived, what life was like, what were their customs and traditions. When you set the stage properly for things like Paul’s epistles it helps you understand difficult verses and how they might fit into modern day life. It is super important as we study to understand the time, the setting, the audience, the speaker, and the meaning of the words. We cannot simply take scriptures that sound pretty or fit into our view of life or our opinions of how we want our God to behave. We have to seek God as He is, not as we want Him to be. It should be our goal to conform to His ways, not Him to ours. This is why Bible study is so productive when done correctly.

I am so glad you are spending time searching God’s word. It will enrich your life and grow you in Him.

        God Bless you!
        In Christ,

Amen! I couldn’t have typed it better myself! I’ve been desiring to read through the Bible in a whole year and have wanted to do so since Highschool but now that I’m out of college and on into the career world, I’ve only now within the past 2 years been reading through the Scriptures and studying it fully through – it’s amazing how much is in the Bible that I have never even read like the books after the Psalms and also other parts of the Chronicles in the OT. I’m thankful for God’s Word and how, just as you said, it can cause enrichment and also growth in my life as I continue to press forward in Him. Thank you for your words of encouragement and also for the helpful links to other searches that are useful tools in studying!

          Take care, Megan

“I am HE who lives.” Amen!

Amen and Amen! I have many favorite scriptures but Exodus 3:14 is one of the most powerful: God said to Moses, I Am Who I Am and What I Am, and I Will Be What I Will Be; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I Am has sent me to you! There are many scriptures in the Bible regarding I AM. In fact, this may just prompt me to pull them all out! I AM HE should make you want to stand up and cheer! I AM HE should chase away all doubts and unbelief. I AM HE should be the answer to every question – because I AM HE IS the answer to every question. I AM HE – the Sovereign, Holy, Omnipotent – All Powerful, Omniscient – All Knowing, Immutable – Unchanging, Loving, Merciful, Gracious, Eternal, Everlasting, Infinite, Self-Sufficient, Self-Existent, Omnipresent, Always with us, never gonna leave us, hears us, answers us, leads us, guides us, protects us, delights in us, living God. Amen and Amen!
